Welcome to this completely new endeavor of mine.
Hello everyone! My name is Lynn and I have started an advice column for queer people and anyone who loves and wants to be an ally to the LGBTQ community. For a while now, it seems like interest in my advice was sparse and waning, possibly because support and affirmation for the LGBTQ+ folks has become more prevalent, and folks have had more avenues to find the answers to questions that they have needed. But since, oh about, the afternoon of August 2016, I have been getting more and more questions being sent to me. I call myself a Diversity Advocate and I truly try to spread information and education whenever and wherever I can. I believe we are all nervous these days, and the need to make connections with each other and share our stories is well on the way of making itself known.
So here I am! You can reach out to me with your questions, whether they’re about coming out, being a queer, transitioning, being a queer parent, or culturally competent elder care: this column is for people of all ages and every color variant of the rainbow. I cannot promise to bring your homophobic family or friends into the light of education, (some people you just cannot help), or introduce you to the love of your life. But I’m listening, and I care about you, so let’s do this thing.
